Joseph Bamina (1925–1965) was a Burundian politician (UPRONA). Bamina was Prime Minister from 26 January to 30 September 1965,[1] and President of the Senate of Burundi in 1965.[2] He was executed after a failed Hutu uprising.
He was survived by his second wife Mary Roche Bamina, and his son Freddie and daughter Jennifer. They were airlifted to exile to Kenya by a private plane sent by President Jomo Kenyatta, who was a friend of the Baminas. The Baminas had established political contacts including relations with President Obote of Uganda and The Princess of Toro and Kenyan Minister Tom Mboya. She is president of the Bamina Foundation.[3]
